VAC UK’s M5 nightshift keeps the motorway moving
17th Sep 2021
Using a vacuum excavator’s Hi-Tip capability to fill adjacent grab wagons minimises the operational footprint and allows traffic to keep flowing on the M5 motorway – so no delays for the traveling public.
It also reduces downtime on site as the vacuum excavator is kept where it’s best utilised in the safe digging zone.
There are also environmental benefits. Excavated material can also be tipped by the vac ex on site and reused on site for backfill. Both options give an improved environmental performance compared to traditional methods of excavation.
Reusing material on site and reducing vehicle movements on the civil engineering works all help to lower the carbon footprint so it’s good for the planet.
VAC UK has the largest fleet of vacuum excavators working on the live motorway and can be seen working day and night throughout the UK on the Highways England motorway network.
