WHY VAC UK’s NEW CITY VACUUM EXCAVATORS ARE THE SAFEST CHOICE FOR URBAN EXCAVATION
City Vacuum Excavators right tool for the right job in urban areas.
You can try to tap in a nail with the head of a screwdriver, but it’ll take longer than if you use a hammer – and the chances are you’ll hit your thumb. Picking the right tool for the job is common sense, and with the prevalence of underground utilities in towns and cities a vacuum excavator is the ideal method to allow safe excavation in this environment.
Vac UK 15million investment in Vacuum Excavators
Vac UK Ltd has made a £15 million investment in a fleet of state of the art vacuum excavators. The largest multi-year capital investment in vacuum excavators in the UK has seen the Vac UK fleet expand with 10 new machines last year, another 10 this year, and 10 on order for next year.
Vac UK committed to storing vacuum excavators from all the leading brands.
Vac UK are committed to storing all the leading vacuum excavator brands from all the leading manufacturers. Currently their machines are made brand new to spec by RSP and MTS two of the leading global vac ex manufacturers. A latest edition to Vac UK’s fleet is the MTS Dino 6 Econic City Vacs – vacuum excavators ideally suited to working in small, urban sites.
Safety benefits of City vacuum excavators.
Alongside the safety benefits that using suction excavation brings to any project – the avoidance of costly and dangerous utility strikes and the reduction of manual handling issues – these new City Vacs bring a host of additional safety features designed specifically for the challenges found on urban sites.
Mercedes Econic chassis vacuum excavator benefits.
The Mercedes Econic chassis is compact, making it a better fit in tight spaces, but unlike some other ‘city’ type units there is no compromise made on power and performance, which match that of larger vacuum excavators. The class-leading MTS F Twin 800mm Fans have an air movement volume up to 34,000m3 per hour with a negative pressure up to 38,000Pa.
With single front-steer axles, double-drive bogies and rear-steer axles, these 32-tonne vehicles have a tighter turning circle than a standard construction eight-wheeler. Alongside their smaller size, this easy manoeuvrability means locations with limited access – common in city centres – are their bread and butter. Excellent fuel efficiency and emission levels that meet the latest requirements for use in built-up areas make hiring one of Vac UK’S City Vacs the sustainable as well as safe choice.
Vacuum Excavator safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
The safety of pedestrians, cyclists and other road users is paramount within the supply chain from client down, and a particular headache in busy city sites. The new City Vacs available to hire from Vac UK are designed with this in mind, with large panoramic windscreens, huge glazed doors and a low-level driving position that creates unrivalled levels of driver visibility with excellent sight lines in all directions. Drivers will notice a dramatic reduction in blind spots, particularly to the front and sides where taller cabs can prove problematic in busy urban areas. Full length folding glass doors maintain sight lines even as drivers enter and exit the cab, and the low-level avoids excess strain on operators as they get in and out too. The DirectVision cab also has cameras and sensors to detect obstacles, giving technological back up in case of human error.
Vacuum Excavators Fined tuned to clients requirements.
Based on an in-depth knowledge of clients’ requirements, Vac UK Ltd has fine-tuned its City Vac units with extra functionality, making them supremely adaptable. Adding MEGA hose booms to create extra reach allows these smaller machines to mirror the applications of the larger Dino 8 and Dino 12 fleet siblings. Vac UK also chose to have both a UK and continental tipping option with the Mega Booms mounted to either kerbside or roadside – a boon on projects taking place on roads with central reservations. Equipment can be operated with the hose boom closest to the central reservation when required with one unit, but does not limit its effectiveness when completing works in footpaths or normal roadways due to the extended boom reach.
The systems feature fully remote-controlled operation of the equipment enabling engagement and disengagement of systems, Mega Arm movement, suction and compressor operations and tipping operations from the rear of the equipment by the main operator.
Vac UK knows that – like any construction plant – a suction excavator is only as good as the operator driving it, and consequently employs the very best. The firm also remains committed to developing the industry’s leading training and development programme for vacuum excavator operators.
The new City Vacs from Vac UK have been retrofitted to meet the FORS Gold standard. The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme is the industry’s go-to accreditation scheme, and Vac UK, currently at silver level, is working towards the highest level, demonstrating exemplary best practices in the fields of safety, efficiency and environmental protection.
Vac UK is committed to staying ahead of the competition, and is currently working in collaboration with manufacturers to introduce exciting new technology to the market, with announcements expected in the coming months.
