VAC UK supporting major development of Pembroke Dock

28th Oct 2022

Vacuum excavation is playing a crucial role in the development of one of Wales’s most historic dockyards.

VAC UK is working alongside Flannery Plant Hire and GroundShore to deliver vital deep drainage civil engineering infrastructure works at Pembroke Dock in West Wales.

Given the age of the facility (the first warships were constructed and launched there just after the Battle of Waterloo) and its many uses over the years (including as a base for Flying Boats during WWII), it’s unsurprising that the team found the ground very congested with services and utilities, including a large number that had not previously been located despite surveying and scanning.

VAC UK Director Patrick Curran said: “It shows again how vacuum excavation provides a powerful tool to eliminate risk on jobs – both from a health and safety and also a cost point of view.”

Vac UK Wales operates out of its depot in Newport, South Wales to service clients across Wales and the South West of England.
